The game in brief
Belmont's Curse is the 26th main Castlevania game and the series' 40th-anniversary release. It is the first new console Castlevania since Lords of Shadow 2 in 2014 and the first traditional 2D game on the original timeline since Order of Ecclesia in 2008. You play as Rose Belmont, who carries Dracula's curse in her right arm, exploring a hand-made map of Dracula's castle and the streets of Paris with the Vampire Killer whip, weapons from seven categories, relics and tarot-card Arcana earned from bosses.
Common misconceptions
- “It's a roguelike because the Dead Cells team made it.” Evil Empire did work on Dead Cells, but Konami says Belmont's Curse does not use roguelike progression. It is a Symphony of the Night-style game.
- “The Midnight Edition plays early.” It does not. It adds a soundtrack and art app, two costumes and a relic.
- “Steam releases a day early.” Steam's page shows Oct 14, 2026 for US visitors, but Konami's date is October 15 and the Steam hour is not confirmed as of 2026-10-14.
- “There is a Switch 2 version.” There is not. Switch 2 runs the Switch version, which Nintendo says behaves the same as on Switch.
- “You play as Trevor.” Rose is the protagonist, and Trevor is not playable in preview builds.
- “Korean voice acting is confirmed.” Steam briefly marked it, but as of 2026-10-14 both Steam and Konami's official site list only English and Japanese audio.
